Concept

Sun-Baked Clay

TRACE & NARRATIVE

Formed as silica-rich solutions flow repeatedly into cavities in volcanic rock, building up layer by layer. The orange is determined by the oxidation state of iron.

Agate is among the world's oldest gemstones—worked specimens have been recovered from Egyptian sites dating to 3000 BC. The name ""agate"" derives from the Achates River in Sicily, where the ancient Greeks first found it.

Even from the same vein, no two patterns match. The Earth's chemistry shifted moment by moment as the layers settled. Those shifts themselves became the pattern.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROJECTION

Warmth — Ignition — Gentleness

A slow internal warming. Stagnation caused by cold — in the body, in the thinking — begins to move. No sudden rush. More like a pilot light catching.

SELECTOR'S NOTE

For the man who knows his temperature is low. A dullness that comes from cold — in the body, in the mind — is real and specific. I chose this stone for that condition. Not because it creates heat, but because it confirms the ember is still there. What you thought had gone out is still warm.
