Green Phantom Quartz

Formed when a quartz crystal pauses its growth, another mineral settles on its surface, and growth resumes. The ""mountain"" visible inside is the outline of the crystal at the moment it stopped.

The green is usually chlorite. Where growth interrupted and resumed multiple times, the mountains appear in layers. Within a single crystal, the fault lines of time made visible.

Found in Brazil and Madagascar. No two phantoms share the same shape—each records the exact changes in growing conditions. A tree with no rings, marking time by other means.

Nothing appears to be happening, but something is accumulating. He knows this from experience, not from reassurance. Growth rings in a tree are invisible from outside — you have to trust the record is being kept. This stone tends to end up with people who've already learnt to trust a process they can't see.
